Lyricist

Of all the things I do what I probably like best is writing lyrics.  For me, it’s the perfect blend of all my interests – music, storytelling, exploration of character as an actor, and a love of the English language and all things “word”. (I’m a big Scrabble player and crossword puzzle person…)

I write lyrics for musical theatre but also really enjoy writing stand-alone songs in the singer/songwriter and cabaret mode.  This way I get to work with a variety of talented composers and I also have the chance to sing my own compositions as well as hear other singers’ interpretations.

In a stand-alone song the life of the song is not dependent on a production of a whole play like it is in a musical. And no context is needed as the entire story is contained within the song. Very satisfying.
